How to Become a Rainy City Roller Doll

  • All skaters must be at least 18 years of age.
  • All fresh meat must sign a league commitment contract and the medical history/release of liability waiver.
  • All fresh meat will be required to attend an intake meeting. These meetings will be held monthly and will cover all the league policies and procedures.
  • For all potential skaters the first practice you attend will be free of charge.
  • If you decided that you want to keep attending practices there will be a fee of $35 each month paid to the treasurer in the first week of each month.
  • All new skaters must wear protective gear every time they enter the rink. (i.e. helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, mouth guards)
  • Basic skills tests are held the first Thursday of every month. Once a skater has passed the basic skills test they may participate in full contact drills.
  • Fresh meat are responsible for obtaining a USARS amateur card, and are eligible to do so after their 60 day grace period has elapsed.
  • All fresh meat must pass the WFTDA basic skill test.
  • The Rainy City Roller Dolls training staff will devote time to fresh meat skaters at a designated fresh meat practice for teaching basic skills.
  • The skill test requirement is in place to prevent accidents and injuries. For some skaters it may take more than one try to pass the skill training test.
  •  If at any point the coaching staff determines that a fresh meat skater is ready to skate at a competitive level, the skater will be placed on a team according to skill level.
  •  A skater from another team who wants to join the Rainy City Roller Dolls will need to submit a letter of recommendation from a board member of their prior team.
  • Practice will be closed to the public and spectators with exceptions made via verbal authorization by any board member at least 24 hours prior to said practice. This is meant to minimize the distractions that multiple guests can have on our team mates. Children and spouses are the exception.
  • During practice the coaches are the boss. Skaters are expected to be respectful and provide the coaching staff with their full attention, if you are unable to do so you may be asked to exit the rink for the remainder of practice.
